Albums of 2024

It’s been a hell of a year.

Here’s my albums of 2024:

  1. You Never End: Moin

Another cracker from Moin with some great collaborations, the usual swirling guitars and Valentina Magaletti’s genius on the drums.

  2. Cool World: Chat Pile

Breakout stars and unlikely darlings of the left-leaning press, Chat Pile. An album, that according to Pitchfork “paints a panoramic view of human suffering” but also slaps.

  3. I Got Heaven: Mannequin Pussy

I’d not really been a fan until now. More confident and with the right amount of screamy.

  4. Fine Art: Kneecap

Slightly controversial given my household, but there’s no denying how much this bangs. Watch the film too.

  5. Your Community Hub: Warrington Runcorn New Town Development Plan

An INTERMITTENT BLEEPING favourite returns with another synth masterpiece.

  6. Reservoir: Brown Horse

Saw them at EoTR. For a band named after smack, twice, surprisingly mellow country rock.

  7. SORCS80: Thee Oh Sees

Will John Dwyer ever slow down? On this list because Earthling is absolutely epic (and the rest are great too).

  8. Memoir of a Sparklemuffin: Suki Waterhouse

Just a very well put together album from start to finish.

  9. GNX: Kendrick Lamar

Back to his best. And deserves this spot for crushing Drake.

  10. Street View – Google Earth

John Vanderslice eschews his usual alt-rock for some experimental electronics.
